How it works

Three moves. That is the whole manual.

Every tile below is live. Use your keyboard and your mouse — nothing here is a recording.

A file, a link, a colour, a snippet. Kamui reads what it is on the way in and gives it the right shape — no menu, no "new item" dialog.

It leaves the way it came. Your windows, your focus, your clipboard — untouched. Everything you dropped is waiting for next time.

Hold ⌘ again to dismiss

Blocks

Twenty-one kinds of thing. Kamui knows which one you dropped.

Every type below ships in the app today. Hover or tap one to see how it actually renders on the canvas.

Canvas themes

Ten canvases, from Midnight to Forest.

The surface itself has a palette. Pick one below and the preview above re-skins itself — exactly as it does in the app.

Feel

Built like a part of macOS, not a website in a window.

Native AppKit and SwiftUI, Metal-backed, tuned for the trackpad. Throw the blocks below around — they have weight, and they stop where you would expect them to.

Nothing to sign up for. Sync is keyed to a phrase that lives in your keychain.

Sync & privacy

Sync you do not have to trust us for.

Two Macs, one canvas, and a server that only ever sees ciphertext. There is no account because there is nothing for one to protect.

01 — ON YOUR MAC

Encrypted before it moves

Every block is sealed with AES-256-GCM on the device that made it. Layout and position sync in the clear; the content never does.

orbitvelvetmarblesignalcopperharborlanternquietemberdriftsaltridge

02 — TWELVE WORDS

Your key is a sentence

A recovery phrase, derived into keys with HKDF-SHA-256, stored in the macOS keychain and synced by iCloud Keychain to your other Macs. We never see it.

server-side view

03 — ON OUR SIDE

Nothing readable, by design

Our servers store and relay bytes they cannot open. A breach would leak your block count and not much else. That is the whole point.

Pricing

Free on one Mac. Paid when you want it on all of them.

No trial timer, no seats to count, and no upsell inside the canvas.

Questions

The things people ask first

No. It is an accessory app with no Dock icon and no window of its own until you call it. Press both command keys and it appears over whatever you were doing; press them again and it is gone, with your windows and focus untouched.

Twenty-one block types today — images, links with live previews, colour swatches, code with syntax highlighting, markdown, checklists, files, and a full terminal session among them. Anything you paste is read and given the right shape automatically.

Your content is encrypted on your Mac with AES-256-GCM before it moves, using a key derived from a twelve-word recovery phrase that lives in your keychain. We store the ciphertext and never hold the key, so there is nothing on our side that can be read — by us or anyone else.

Sync stops. Every canvas you have stays on your Mac and stays fully usable — Kamui does not lock your own work behind a subscription.

Not today. Kamui is built directly on AppKit and SwiftUI to feel native, so a port is a rewrite rather than a build target. If enough people ask, we will say so honestly before we promise anything.

Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 14 Sonoma and later. The download is around 18 MB and the app idles at well under one percent CPU.
